Over 40 years of history and experience

1978

Alan Seager founded Seager Heating as a Heating Installation and Maintenance company operating within the local community in Hadleigh, Suffolk as a one man operation, initially for private clients local to the area. During the formative years the company was established based on a working ethos of complete customer satisfaction which remains the case to this day.

1981

Whilst continuing to work primarily for local clients and home owners around the Hadleigh, Suffolk area, the company had grown to a stage where there was enough work to employ an apprentice and an additional fully qualified heating engineer to help with the increased work load. It was at this time that the company branched out from working just for private clients and a decision was taken to try and secure work with the local council and smaller local developers. Fairly quickly a good relationship was established with a local registered social landlord (RSL) to help with their small works responsive maintenance teams. It was during the course of this work that Alan started to come into contact with other larger specialist heating contractors and the idea of focusing on RSL support work was borne.

1987

Having now established the company as a reputable Heating and Plumbing supplier to both RSL’s and local builders, whilst continuing the development of private client work, an opportunity came along to carry out a quick turnaround contract for the local RSL. Although only a small job it was a huge milestone in that having successfully completed it, it served as a good reference to win similar small contracts with other local RSL’s in the immediate area.

1989

At this time the company had become a reputable installer of high volume RSL contracts in the Hadleigh and Ipswich area.  A decision to develop the non private client side of the business, and to procure larger contracts previously beyond reach was taken resulting in successful bids on many larger contracts. A period of strong growth in the following years meant that more staff were recruited, with more engineers and administrators coming on board and Alan becoming Managing Director, assuming a more operational and strategic role.

1994

In the Mid ‘90s the company moved into rented premises at Pound Lane in Hadleigh from where steady growth continued, and a new general manager was employed, along with a contract manager and two admin staff. In addition to the company successfully winning multiple high volume contracts locally, the next few years were to see the company venture further afield.

Following continued growth of the business, another  move into bigger premises was required. Units on the Lady Lane Industrial Estate in Hadleigh were bought as a result of new contracts being secured across Suffolk and Essex.  The increased space was used for logistical purposes and the need for increased storage and parking facilities as the fleet grew. These units were  the company’s first freehold premises and enabled a commitment to invest in long overdue improvements to such things as the office layout, communications and IT.

2004

Four years on and the business was continuing to grow and evolve as its client base grew in number and in geographic spread. The business appointed a new director and a new contracts manager, plus additional admin staff as it won a major contract for heating improvements for a social housing client in Norfolk. This period saw the company become established as a major player in Social Housing maintenance contracts in East Anglia, and in some cases as far afield as Northamptonshire and Birmingham, all whilst continuing with the existing local client base.

2007

Time for another office move! This time into a brand new bespoke building specifically designed for purpose and comprising some 3000 sq M of office space, a similar storage area, an additional showroom and training facilities in order to support the growing workforce and for training the apprentice engineers being recruited. This period of progression saw the company evolve into what it is today, a fully established and experienced facilities services company specialising in refurbishment works for Registered Social Landlords.

TODAY

Seager Home Solutions continues to specialise in RSL works but has never lost sight of its roots with the private client, and to this day our thriving private client division continues specialising in bespoke heating, bathroom, kitchen and disabled adaptation installations.
