Oil boilers are less commonly found in the UK compared to their natural gas counterparts, however they remain an attractive option for those properties that are not connected to the natural gas network.  Most oil boiler appliances are fed by a supply of stored oil which is kept in a tank (externally to the property). The benefit of this is that the homeowner is free to shop around for a good deal on fuel and is not tied to one supplier.

So, if you are interested in having a new oil biler fitted, what can you expect to happen?

«    A 1300 litre fully bunded oil storage tank (1.9m long x 1.22m wide x 1.33m high) will be installed on a concrete base to the rear of your property.

«    The oil tank will have a remote level read installed inside your home.

«    An oil line will be run from the oil tank to the boiler.  This will be fitted with a filter and a fire check valve, situated outside any building.

«    Boilers fitted in outhouses will have frost thermostats fitted to protect them from freezing.

«    The system cannot be commissioned until you have arranged a delivery of oil.
